About me

Hi,

I’m Stephen De Carli, a soon-to-be grad of the Algonquin College journalism program and avid writer and an especially avid photographer. If you want to find out more about who I am and the work I’ve done, you’ve come to the right place.

I was born in Brampton, Ontario but lived most of my life in Brockville, Ont until I started the journalism program, and I’m now living in Ottawa with my family. I’ve enjoyed collecting information and remembering it, mostly ever since the Internet came along, and I thought my skills at remembering important details about things would come of use to me as a journalistic writer and also photographer. I particularly enjoyed doing this for info related to my hobbies, like video games (though I haven’t written any stories about them) and hockey. I could possibly tell you the release year of every Nintendo video game system (if you wanted to know), but I could also research about any topic and be able to memorize and recognize important details for writing purposes. This is I feel my greatest professional asset, along with my photography skills (I received A grades in my photo class!).

I have done a lot of work for the Algonquin Times, our college’s campus paper, and have served for one semester as the paper’s photo co-photo editor, a position which involved a lot of editing photos for newsprint. Amongst my other journalistic skills are my effectiveness at using Twitter and Facebook, my photography ability, and a writing skill set that my professors have told me is very good.

I am currently in the process of starting a freelancing in Ottawa, but if you’re ever interested in my work or employing me, let me know using the info from my contact page above.

I will post links to some of this work on this site as I do it.

My non-journalistic hobbies (a.k.a. what I do when I’m not working on journalism) are video game playing, sports (I do enjoy writing about my beloved Maple Leafs), doing photos for fun, eating, and sleeping.
